Anatoliy Melnyk earned his Engineer degree in Computer Engineering from Lviv Polytechnic National University in 1978, a Ph.D. degree in Computer Systems from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1985, and a D.Sc. degree from the Institute of Problems of Modelling in Power Engineering in 1992. He was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the design of high-performance computer systems as a Fellow Scientific Researcher in 1988. He received the academic title of Professor in Computer Engineering from the MES of Ukraine and the title of Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council of Great Britain in 1996.
He has been Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at IT Step University since 2023 and CEO of Intron Ltd since 2000. From 1982 to 1994, he served as Head of the Department of Signal Processing Systems at the Lviv Radio Engineering Research Institute. From 1994 to 2023, he was Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, and from 1994 to 2008, Scientific Director of the Institute of Measurement and Computer Techniques at Lviv Polytechnic National University. From 1999 to 2009, he was Dean of the Department of Computer and Information Technologies at the Institute of Business and Perspective Technologies. From 2014 to 2023, he was Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.
His main research areas include models of computing, computer architecture, high-level design tools, specialised processor design, embedded and high-performance heterogeneous computer design, self-configurable and self-improvable FPGA-based computer systems, cybersecurity, AI, and quantum-inspired computing. He has led numerous research and development projects in the fields of computer and cyber-physical systems and networks. He is the author of about 450 scientific publications, including 2 handbooks, 14 monographs, and 103 patents.
